Valley OG Strain: Background

Valley OG is a 60/40 indica-leaning hybrid cross between SFV OG and OG Kush. It was first propagated in the San Fernando Valley area of California, much like it’s parent strain SFV OG. While it comes from mysterious origins, Valley OG has become a staple in dozens of dispensaries across the country for its strong mellow effects and for it’s incredible potency. A word to the wise though— Valley OG checks in between 23-27% THC. Rich in terpenes like Myrcene, Caryophyllene and Limonene, and featuring a splash of CBG, this strain feels a lot more potent than you’d think.

Valley OG cannabis scents, flavors, and effects

There’s no marijuana quite like Valley OG marijuana. While it’s quite similar to OG Kush in terms of flavor profile and effects, Valley OG feels a lot more refined. On those nose, it offers a very loud, earthy aroma. When you grind the flowers up, they release a pungent, sour lemon scent that is sure to tickle your nostrils and get the salivary glands flowing.

The flavor of Valley OG is similar to the scent, though it offers unique nuances that neither of it’s parents could ever compare to. With an inhale, your mouth will be enveloped with a pungent, dank earthiness rich in peppery terps. However, the smoke itself is piney and herbal, offering some relief from the spicy peppery tinge within the smoke. The strain really shines on the exhale, though. The aftertaste is very lemon-forward, boasting a diesel-tinged sour lemon flavor along with some of those balancing spicy, herbal notes.

The effects of the Valley OG strain take hold quickly. As an indica-leaning hybrid, the effects are mostly balanced though they tend to make you feel more sedated and relaxed. It’s known for a potent couchlock that comes along with a major mental lift, chasing away feelings of stress, anxiety and depression. It’s also strong in the body, providing top-tier pain relief from aches and pains, headaches, and nausea. With its high THC levels, it’s also known for causing a strong case of the munchies, which is great against nausea or a lack of appetite. Medical patients love Valley OG for its strong symptom relief against conditions like migraines, insomnia, eating disorders, muscle spasms, chronic pain, PMS, and arthritis.

Valley OG

All in all, there’s a lot to love about the Valley OG strain in terms of effects and flavors. However, the strain itself is also gorgeous, featuring dense, dark green buds with vibrant orange pistils and plenty of crystalline trichomes. We highly recommend it for nighttime and evening relief from your stubborn symptoms and love it for its strong ability to provide an incredible mental lift and deep-seated whole body pain relief. If we had to give it a star rating, we’d give it a 4.8 out of 5. It only loses points since it can be tricky to find in some places. But that said, the next time you see it at your favorite dispensary don’t hesitate to give it a try.
